PauseLearn

10. I tuoi diritti

Privacy notice

Effective from 15 October 2026 (updated 2 November 2026: sign-in code reminder, sections 3 and 6)

This page explains what personal data PauseLearn (pauselearn.com) processes, why, who it is shared with and what your rights are, under Article 13 of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

1. Controller

The data controller is Edoardo De Santis, who runs PauseLearn as an individual. For any privacy question or request, write to info@pauselearn.com.

2. What data we process

Teachers with an account: email address and, if set, a password (stored encrypted by our authentication provider; we cannot see it); the content you create (lessons, exercise sets, games, classes, homework, challenge reports, uploaded photos and audio); a usage counter for AI features and your plan; for paid plans, the subscription identifier (card details are handled only by Stripe); for gift codes, the code, date and email of the person who redeemed it.

Students: the first and last name you type to do homework, and your answers; if you create an account, your name, email and the classes you join; in class challenges, the nickname you choose and your answers (your teacher may save the challenge report).

If you write to us with the "Write to us" form: the text of your message, the type of request, your email only if you enter it, and some technical details to understand the problem (site version, open page, game type and lesson code if one is open, language, screen size and browser type). No account is needed. We use them only to reply and to fix the problem, and keep them as long as needed, at most 12 months. The message also reaches us through Telegram, which we use as an internal notification tool.

Name picker (teacher tool): the list of names you type or paste stays only in your browser (local storage) and is never sent to our servers. If you choose to read the names from a screenshot, the image is sent to Anthropic (section 6) only to read the names: we do not store it. If the image contains student names, consider whether to use this feature: you can type or paste the names as text instead.

Everyone: technical data needed to load a web page (IP address, browser type), seen by the providers listed in section 6, and some technical information stored in your browser (section 9).

We do not show ads, do not profile users and do not use analytics or tracking tools.

3. Purposes and legal bases

4. Student data

When teachers use PauseLearn with their students, the teacher (or their school or institution) decides what to assign and what to do with the results; for student data collected in their classes, PauseLearn acts on their behalf. Schools or institutions needing a data processing agreement (Art. 28 GDPR) can contact us.

5. Children

You must be at least 14 to create an account (Italian law), or have the consent of a parent or guardian. Younger students can do homework without an account; we recommend teachers ask them to use only a first name or nickname.

6. Who we share data with

We never sell data. Our providers: Supabase (database, sign-in, files, real-time challenges; servers in the EU, Ireland), GitHub (hosting), Telegram (internal notifications to the owner: new teacher sign-ups, games created, and messages from the "Write to us" form), Resend (sign-in emails, the sign-in code reminder and delivery of "Write to us" messages to us), Anthropic (AI generation: receives texts, transcripts and images teachers submit, not student answers), YouTube/Google (video playback and thumbnails), Microsoft Clarity (usage statistics on teacher pages, only after "Accept all"), Stripe (payments), Unsplash, Wikipedia/Wikimedia Commons and Openverse (photos loaded by your browser), and, if enabled, a text-to-speech provider (audio for listening exercises). If you add your own API key in the settings, AI requests go from your browser straight to Anthropic with your key.

7. Transfers outside the EU

Some providers are based in the United States. Transfers rely on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework for participating companies, or on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

8. Retention

Teacher accounts and content are kept until the account is deleted (account panel, "Delete my account"), which removes the account, lessons, classes, homework with results, and reports. Student results are kept until the teacher deletes them or their account; if a student deletes their account, their name stays in homework already submitted, unlinked from the account. Payment records are kept as required by law; providers' technical logs follow their own retention periods.

9. Cookies and browser storage

PauseLearn uses no profiling cookies. It uses your browser's local storage only for technical purposes (keeping you signed in, saving your lessons and preferences), which does not require consent.

Other services load only with your consent, category by category:

ServicePurposeCookies and durationPrivacy policy
YouTube (Google)Playing lesson videos ("YouTube videos" category). With "Necessary only" each video asks first. Those of the YouTube player, managed by Google under its own rules.Google privacy policy
Microsoft ClarityUsage statistics on teacher pages ("Statistics" category): clicks, scrolling, pages visited, to find what does not work and improve it. Passwords, emails and numbers typed into fields are masked; pages with student data (classes, reports, live challenges) are not recorded, and Clarity never loads on student pages._clck (about one year), _clsk (about one day)Microsoft privacy statement

How to give, change or withdraw consent. On your first visit a bar asks what to allow: "Accept all", "Necessary only" or "Customize", which opens one switch per category (all off until you turn them on) and a "Save my choices" button. You can change your mind at any time with the "Cookie preferences" link at the bottom of the PauseLearn page, which reopens the same panel with your current choices. You can also withdraw consent here:

Stripe loads its tools only when you open the payment page.

10. Your rights

You can ask to access, correct or delete your data, restrict processing, receive your data in a portable format, and object to processing based on legitimate interest, by writing to info@pauselearn.com; we reply within one month. You can also delete your account yourself. If you think we are mishandling your data, you can complain to the Italian data protection authority.

11. Security and changes

All traffic is encrypted (HTTPS), and in the database each teacher can read only their own data. If this notice changes, we update the date at the top and notify registered users of important changes. We do not make automated decisions with legal effects on people.
